Music. Hi, my name is Rolando Velez, No. 14. I am an immunization consultant based in Toronto, Canada. Today, I'm going to be talking about spousal sponsorship. In cases where both parties are living outside Canada, permanent residents of Canada must reside in Canada in order to sponsor a spouse or partner. However, a Canadian citizen may reside outside of Canada with their spouse or partner while sponsoring them. While this can be done, it is important to realize that immigration authorities will expect proof of the couple's intention to relocate to Canada at the end of the sponsorship process. If the citizen and their spouse or partner cannot prove their intention to return to Canada, the application could be rejected on that basis. The types of proof that immigration authorities typically want to see include proof of a property in Canada or overseas, proof of a job offer or position available to one or both of the couple in Canada, and evidence that the couple has made arrangements for any children they might have to attend school in Canada. It's important to note that this list is not exhaustive and immigration authorities will assess each application on a case-by-case basis.
