One of the best experiences I got through my leadership education at campus is learning about myself and my leadership style. I also learned how people best respond to me, which was really important when I went into real leadership roles. I never would have discovered these things if I hadn't taken classes at UT. In terms of my own leadership abilities, taking classes where we did hypothetical case studies enhanced my leadership strategy. By placing ourselves into scenarios and studying theoretical models of leadership, as well as different theories of how leaders affect change, I have been able to internalize many valuable lessons. I hope to eventually use these lessons in a position of significant influence and become the best leader I can be. By observing leaders in action through my leadership classes at UT, I was inspired to start a company, take leadership roles in organizations, and seek new opportunities. I don't believe I would have pursued these paths without the inspiration I gained from my education in leadership. As a leadership student, I have come to understand the concept that at any given point in life, you are either influencing someone or being influenced by someone. Learning how to be a good leader is crucial if you want to be a positive influence on the world. Ethics was a significant topic I learned about while taking leadership classes at UT. I discovered that you can still act morally and ethically while achieving your goals. This newfound knowledge has made me more confident in handling future situations. Leaders are not simply born; they are made. By studying leadership in a formal setting like the University of Texas, we can hone our leadership skills and create better leaders within society.
